Societal Imbalances

In the writing of revolutionary texts,

One becomes a subject of scrutinyAmid these perilous times.

Yet, to tread the path of greatest resistance

Is a feat deserving highest praise.

Remonstrances can be subjective,

But the plea for empirical truthsAmid feigned aggression

Can still fracture the zeal of the double-minded.

Aggression, when meted rightly,Is a bittersweet pill in procuring state justice.

“Poet of sorts, what musings do you bring today?”

Well, I must confess,

I woke on the right side of the bed—

The grass greener than yesterday,

The sweet smell of teargas drifting through the air.

Indeed, remonstrances are subjective,

Yet, too often, justice meted is uneven,

The stone-hearted thrive in the face of the law.

But determination, applied with intent,

Turns the wheel toward rights,

Even as the fight lingers on.
